The man manages to spew out these quotes where he takes a proposition that is totally false and presents it like it is obvious truth. Example:

Quote from Mitt Romney:

President Bush did a pretty courageous thing. At a time when our economy needed a boost, needed a stimulus, he said, "You know what, we’re going to lower taxes."

This quote is messed up on so many different levels:

  • There is nothing "courageous" about cutting taxes, ever. Cutting taxes will almost always be a popular move, even when it is a bad one.

  • Bush's tax cuts were not intended to boost the economy. They were originally planned when the economy was booming and we had a huge surplus. At that time, the reason for the tax cut was "we have extra money and we should give it back". By the time the cuts happened, this was no longer the case. It was only then that Bush decided to re-justify the tax cut as being to boost the economy.

  • Most economists say that the government should not try to cut taxes to moderate a recession. The cuts normally come too late to be effective, and instead lead to inflation when the economy picks back up.

  • We are stuck with a huge fucking deficit today because of those tax cuts.

The saddest part is that this quote was part of an attack on John McCain, who voted against the Bush tax cuts. McCain has always been for balanced budgets, because he is, you know, intelligent. Romney is apparently pro-fiscal-irresponsibility.

But Romney is no idiot. He has a history of competence in everything he does. He is just saying this stuff to score political points, the same way he changed his positions on abortion and gay marriage.

Mitt Romney is a nasty, nasty man.

Please, republicans, nominate John McCain. He and Huckabee are the only decent republicans running, and Huckabee's policies are all wrong.
